Networking: Remote Access

What is remote access?

Remote access is the technology that allows remote users to access your Local Area Network (LAN) via the Internet. Not only can your users access your LAN, but through a further set of security measures, remote users can access their files and the internet as though they were in the office.

Who should consider remote access?

Any organization who would benefit from users being able to access the network from home or another location should consider remote access. Organizations with geographically dispersed remote users, who require the efficiency gained by being able to access the company network / LAN from anywhere at any time would especially benefit from this technology.
